To Keep or Not to Keep

Oh music, how I love thee.

I’m having a hard time deciding what songs to remove in order to get new ones on my laptop. It’s not that I’m indecisive, I make a dozen quick and sharp decisions on a daily basis, but music is simply my weak side. Whenever I end up lacking memory on the computer, I head to the movies folder because that’s the easiest place to get some free space. I can delete movies without a second thought, but songs I can’t – I have doubts, many thoughts, and simply feel bad if I decide to delete some. Worst case scenario, I can delete applications I don’t use or a video game I haven’t played in a while, just to keep my music safe.

It’s mostly the fact that I feel like removing a piece of myself or my past if I delete the majority of those songs. They possess sentimental value, they’re important to me, I can’t just get rid of them like that. And no, I don’t linger in the past, I usually click next when an old song pop ups because I no longer feel like listening to it, I am no longer in that place. But that doesn’t make the deleting easier at all, as I still feel it should be around just in case.

Or, you know, my mind just be coming up with random reasons to avoid the truth – I’m too lazy to clean up my music folder. It’s as if artists randomly threw up in there and piled up the place with all types of songs. It’s horrid, a place of chaos and destruction. But then again, I love playing those songs, as much as I hate reorganizing the folder. It’s a love-hate never-ending relationship. I’ve contemplated just deleting the whole folder and starting from scratch, but that feels like a lot of work and I don’t want to spend my time searching for files that I already have.

And well, as you can see, instead of fixing the issue I’m rambling about it on a blog. Obviously I won’t get this sorted out today too. Oh well, it’s going to be a long summer and tomorrow sounds better anyway.
